Library Policies
Library Users will:
1. Be Responsible
2. Be Respectful
3. Be Ready to Learn.
Circulation Policy:
Students will check out 1 book per week, however there may be a time throughout the year when this may change.
Book(s) may be kept for 6 days. On the 7th day, their book will be due back in the library. They may renew a book, if there is not a request on reserve waiting for that copy. Please note that if the book(s) is lost or damaged, a fee will be given to replace the book. Students will be given notices of overdue books weekly or bi-weekly. Students will not be permitted to check out another book, until the previous book is returned or the fine is has been satisfied.
Book Check-out Schedule for 2023-2024
I am the only elementary librarian and travel to all of our buildings each week. It can be hard to keep track of each building's library schedule so I am very understanding if a student forgets their library book.
When they forget, I tell them not to worry and to try to bring it to the next library day. They will be able to check out another book when they bring it back. I try to use Dojo or a computer printed message with the information to let parents know about it. This also helps know which book is due.
There is NOT a daily fine for overdue books, however if a book gets lost or damaged then families are asked to pay the replacement cost of the book.
Students at the Primary and Intermediate buildings have access to an online catalog of hundreds of books. Most of these selections have options to read to the student. By the middle of the first nine weeks, I try to take each class to the computer lab to practice signing in and go over the process. It does take a lot of practice and we don't always have access to the computer lab, but papers are sent home with directions for families to log in to the student's account from any device with access to the internet.
